The Dragon is a new class of very impressive personal submarine that was created by a company named Deepflight. It is equipped with the company’s Dive Manager System and is very easy to pilot and completely safe, as it was designed to float to the surface on its own in the event of a power loss.
The Dragon uniquely offers the DeepFlight Dive Manager (DDM), a proprietary technology that monitors and manages critical functions. The DDM allows you to pilot the Dragon with minimal training and provides the ability to set the depth limit on any particular dive.
The submarine’s brushless DC thrusters are powered by a waterproof lithium ion battery, which provides a very decent range of up to 6 hours. With its high-efficiency brushless DC drivetrain and underwater lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack, the Dragon is fast, clean and quiet. A 40V system voltage and low electric signature make the Dragon safe to operate around swimmers, as well as any large marine animals you might encounter. The dragon features a maximum payload of 550 lbs, and it was designed to go as deep as 400 feet.
The Dragon is the first DeepFlight craft which can submerge to impressive depths and hold its position in the water, which means that you can use it to admire and photograph sea creatures up close without actually swimming beside them.
At 1800 kg and only 5 m in length, the Dragon is able to fit on more yachts than any other submarine on the market, with little or no retrofit required. Launches, recovers and stores just like your tender.
DeepFlight has begun taking preorders for the Dragon, which is priced at $1.5 million.
